Critics Disapprove of Proposed African Wildlife Introductions

Last week's proposal by a team of Cornell University researchers to introduce African wildlife (including lions, cheetahs, elephants, and camels) to the North American Great Plains region has met with sharp criticism from fellow conservationists. Critics point out that maintaining African wildlife in North America would at best be like running a large zoo and could have widespread ramifications throughout Great Plains ecosystems.
