Conservationists Call for Reintroduction of Eurasian Lynx to Britain

Until recently, scientists believed the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) disappeared from the British Isles several thousand years ago. But new evidence now suggests that the lynx disappeared from the British Isles just 1,500 years ago, when humans started clearing forested lands, thus destroying the cats' habitat. Now conservationists believe some areas of Scotland could again provide suitable habitat, and are calling for the reintroduction of the lynx into its former habitat.
