WWF Conducts Survey of Great Sea Reef
During a survey of Fiji’s Great Sea Reef, the WWF identified a new species of damselfish (Pomacentrus sp.) as well as 43 new hard coral species.The reef is the third longest in the world and until now little was known of the species that inhabited its waters. The survey also highlighted the threats to the reef which include overfishing, illegal fishing practices, and habitat destruction due to human activity.
