Warming Waters Threaten Global Fish Populations
The WWF warns that oceans, lakes, and rivers around the world are growing warmer due to the effects of global climate change and that as water temperatures rise, fish populations, already weakened due to overfishing, face serious threats.
As waters warm, the food supplies that support fish populations decline. Additionally, higher water temperatures result in lower concentrations of oxygen dissolved in the water, making it difficult for fish to breath.
