Biodiversity of the Eastern Arc Mountain Range
In a recent article for the New York Times, Carl Zimmer examines the rich biodiversity of the Eastern Arc, an ancient chain of Mountains that rises at the edge of the African savanna-woodland plains. The Eastern Arc is a discontinous series of peaks that stretch from southern Kenya, through Tanzania, and finally into Malawi and northern Mozambique. Although the mountain range is discontinuous, the forests that blanket the slopes are very similar in nature and are rich in species found nowhere else on earth.
