Old Faithful Videocam Now Available
Ever since I visited Yellowstone National Park in September 2007, I've been stopping by the National Park Service website to view the Webcam page for Old Faithful Geyser. The Webcam sends updated images to the website but it doesn't let you watch an eruption in all its grandeur because you only get a picture about once every thirty seconds. But now, you can watch a live video feed of Old Faithful and other geysers in Upper Geyser basin (such as Beehive, Lion or Giantess).
Access the Old Faithful Videocam →
The video camera zooms in and pans out depending on what's going on in the basin. If a geyser erupts, the camera focuses on the eruption or if bison, elk, or other wildlife wander into the frame it zooms in on the animals to give you a close-up peak at Yellowstone's wildlife.
The new video cam is great, but there's still a good reason to visit the old Webcam page. The Videocam is unable to post the expected eruption times (I guess it's quite complicated to integrate that information into streaming video), but the Webcam page still shows the estimated time of the next eruption (in the blue bar just above the picture).
