Iberian Lynx Faces Extinction
The WWF-UK estimates that the population of Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) has dwindled to less than 300 individuals, making it the world's most endangered cat.
The Iberian lynx once inhabited vast regions of Europe, but now, this small cat is found only in isolated pockets of Portugal and Spain. The WWF has turned to the Spanish National Government and the Regional Government of Andalucia to establish captive breeding programs to help save the lynx.
