Pirhana Attacks Linked to River Dams

Monday December 29, 2003

A recent increase in the number of pirhana attacks on swimmers in rivers of south-east Brazil has been attributed to the increasing number dams in the region.

The dams slow the flow of rivers and thus might be providing ample ideal habitat in which pirhanas can breed in greater numbers.
