Hatchlings Boost Critically Endangered Kakapo Population

Things are looking up for the critically endangered kakapo, a bird that inhabits a few small islands off the coast of New Zealand. Three chicks have recently hatched, bringing the worldwide population of these birds to 86 individuals, the highest level attained by the population in the last quarter of a century.
