Chemicals threaten Arctic wildlife

The recent discovery of brominated flame retardants in several species of Arctic mammals and birds revives concerns for the accumulation of pollutants in the region. In the 1980's, environmental research revealed that PCBs, DDT, and a number of other organic toxins tend to accumulate in the Arctic.
