Northern Bottlenose Whale Stranded in Thames River
Friday January 20, 2006
Rescuers are working to help a northern bottlenose whale find its way back to the sea after it swam up the Thames River as far as Chelsea and the Houses of Parliament. Among the rescue team are members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue who are specially trained to deal with whale strandings. The northern bottlenose whale is a rare visitor to British waters and usually remains in the deep waters of the North Atlantic.
