The American alligator is one of two living species of alligators. The American alligator inhabits the wetlands and swamps in the Southeastern United states. Their range stretches along the Gulf Coasts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida as well as northward into Georgia and the Carolinas.
