Waterfowl

Waterfowl are a group of birds that includes ducks, swans, geese, and screamers. There are about 149 species of waterfowl alive today. The articles listed below provide information about the characteristics, classification and evolution of waterfowl.

Bar-Headed Goose

The bar-headed goose gets its common named from the two brownish-black bars that wrap around the back of its head. This goose has a light grey body, white on its face and neck, orange legs, and bill. Its feet are webbed and it has broad wings.

Nene Goose

The nene goose, also known as the Hawaiian goose, is the state bird of Hawaii. The nene in some ways resembles its closest living relative, the Canada goose although the Nene is smaller in size.

Canada Goose

The Canada goose is the most widespread of all geese in North America. This species has a black head and neck, a pale breast and a white patch, also called a chinstrap, under the chin and on the side of the head.
