Definition: A sensory aparatus (also referred to as a feeler) that is located on the head of an arthropod. Antennae are always present in pairs and enable the animal to sense touch, sound, heat, and taste. The size and shape of arthropod antennae can vary greatly depending on the way they are used and the adaptations that have shaped them over time.
